Grading Dec 2011
On the 11th Dec 2011 NFKA held examinations for its students, both adults and children to try to attain their next belt. Students ranged in age from 4 years old to over 70 and belts attempted went from the first belt, red belt throught to Brown and White belt, which is one grade off Blackbelt. Prior to the grading students had to ensure that they had their instructors to undertake the grading.
Students were assessed by four examiners all individual club instructors and were called in small groups to demonstrate their technical skills and aptitude along with their determination. Marks were awarded for showing good form, correct posture and technique and for the higher grades on ability during sparring and sparring forms.
By the end of the rigorous grading NFKA Cramlington had over 70 students who successfully passed their examination and achieved their next belt. Everyone who passed can be rightfully proud of their achievement, and everyone who was unsuccessful gained valuable feedback on what they had to work towards for their next grading. The thing to remember is no one fails unless they give up and do not return to karate.
Some students undertook their Brown belt grading, this grading was the toughest of all undertaken on the day, both physically and mentally with the candidates having to excel in everything they did, even under considerable pressure.
The grading started off with the candidates having to demonstrate their prowess in the most fundamental of move (stances, blocks, strikes and kicks), then later moved on to sparring forms, arguably the toughest part of the grading followed which was designed to test stamina, determination and attitude.
The candidates are expected to be competent fighting and defending themselves at all ranges, so to test this we also include sparring, where the candidates have to demonstrate their ability to fight.
The Following Students were successful at the Grading.
